Green Bags

There are a couple types of bags that may come to mind when a person thinks of “green bags.” The type that most people are now familiar with are the reusable shopping bags that can be bought very inexpensively. The other type are gift bags or bags for putting people’s purchases in that are made from recycled material.

Reusable shopping bags were something of a novelty up until recently. They were mostly used in places like bookstores, and were made of canvas or some other heavy material. Generally they were fairly expensive as well. Now they’re everywhere! It seems that now almost every major grocery chain has reusable green bags that their shoppers can buy for only a couple dollars each. These cut down on the number of plastic bags that have to be made every year, and how many get thrown away.

Since so many people are concerned about “going green,” gift green bags have also become popular recently. These bags are made of 100% recycled material. They are often used by stores that sell green products as wrapping for their customers who are giving their purchase to someone as a gift. These bags just enhance the eco-friendliness of the store.
